What We Do

Before any medication gains FDA approval, there is a long and thorough regimen of testing to be sure the drug is safe and effective. It usually takes several years and millions of dollars to get a new drug to the market. Human volunteers are a necessary part of this process. Each medication is tested on thousands of people who are willing to help this essential scientific endeavor.

North State Clinical Research was started in 2001 with the mission to perform high quality medical research. Jay Schmidt MD, who has practiced internal medicine in this community for more than 15 years, is the medical director. Our clinic is one of hundreds of American research sites that participate in the study of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, and hyperlipidemia. Our goal at North State is not just to further medical research, but also to help people in our community who suffer from these medical conditions.
